Hi all. Can i ask what your symptoms were that led to diagnosis. Did it come on suddenly? X
Hi Natalie Mcgrath.. For me their were no symptoms.. Was told after having my first bone density scan, they said it was time due to my age to have a scan done.. Shocked me and has over whelmed with the results!!!
Im only 30 and doc said im too young but has sent me for xray. For the past 9 weeks or more ive had intermittent sharp stabbing pain in both femoral joints. It stopped after 3 weeks but monday started again in just the right hip. This time its excruciating pain where im rolling eound on the floor trying to get comfy and moving my leg around crying in pain. Shes given me tramadol so had a better sleep last night. It seems to be worse at night x
I am not taking the meds suggested for me.. I'm doing home remedies for myself with walking. N. Tie Che once a week. N. four days a week a Faithful Workout on the NRB Network that I record, so that I can do the workout at what ever time of day I choose! I was just diagnosis at the end of 2014.. So have to have a life style change. N. I'm still working on that.. Guess that's gonna be a on going work in progress!
Sorry you are in so much pain Natalie Mcgrath.. That's awful Prayer. N. Healing Hugs
Wow tie che? Sounds fab. I often wonder if i should take up yoga x
Thanks i just want answers x
I had no symptoms at all. After I fell on the ice and fractured a vertebrae that's when I found out I had Op.
No symptoms as such, Ive always had neck pain and a locum Dr sent me for a scan where I was diagnosed with Osteopenia, 8 yrs later I fell and shattered my wrist was sent for another bone scan still osteopenia but worse. I then started on Vit D3 and started running. Last bone scan improvement in hips score but Osteoporosis in spine. Im in no pain though. So sorry for all those that are it must be dreadful. Xx
No symptoms got told after first bone density x ray x
No symptoms here either. It was my first, routine bone scan. Recommended for all women post-menopause. I was shocked when my Dr told me the results! I'm 58
I just got told there was a script waiting for me at the docs so i asked what for so they said because i have osteoporosis. They have since apologised for not realising thry hadnt toldme and i didnt know x
Barbie Gill, I guess we're all a work in progress!! Have a lovely weekend all. It's finally warm enough to get outside and start walking!
Carolyn Manuel, I wouldn't take anything without researching your options first. They didn't tell you? Anyone else want to chime in here?
I had morning cramps on my left leg (2013 july) .Had it massaged. A week had passed, now there was slight pain. Dr. Advised an x-ray .... Result " no good" so a bone scan was done ... Result .... Osteoporosis.... Right now am taking calcium, vit. D 3 , glucosamine wt chrondointin and protos powder. I no longer experience cramps, but has to be careful not to fall or slide.
Had a rotator cuff injury... X ray of neck showed demineralization. I had to beg my doctor for a bone scan... It confirmed it and osteopenia
Thats terrible that they didn't tell you Carolyn x
More often than not, I don't or seldom use an umbrella if its sunny. I , we, need vitD, friends.
I was just told last week and see my Dr. This week for results. He wouldn't give over the phone. I was told in 07 at a womens health fair that I tested positive. I didn't have health insurance and just blew it off. Bad, I know. But, I was 37, had my son at 34 and I guess just thought "not me". Since 08, I have had 17 breaks. Toes, fingers and ankle. It became a running joke, because its not like I had some good story.... Lol all were from silly things that everyday people do. Over the last 4 years, my hips get sore, my back is always sore, like it just needs a good adjustment. My wrist and ankles are always sore.... That's constant. I also have lost an inch in height, not happy with that at all. I am 4"11. Well now 4"10. Not wanting to admit the height, but people have been telling me that I must be strinking. I guess they're correct.
There are no symptoms. Most people have it and don't know till they fall and break something.
I had no symptoms, just recommended by dr to have bone density scan during regular yearly check up.
Thanks everyone x
Yeah, sometimes we don't give an iota of concern on those things, thinking "not me, am healthy and am still young" . Now that we are already in this stage.... Who's to be blamed? My dr. Advised me, to take the med. Religiously and exercise, esp. My left leg.
I'm nervous as to what my Dr. Is going to tell me. I am doing all of my research Now... Trying to educate myself and stay ahead of it. I am 4"10 and weigh 120. I have been eating what so many have told me to eat that I actually feel great on day 4 of my diet change I stopped my intense work outs of Shaun T and started walking and weight baring. Going to yogo this morning. At 44, with a 10 yr old I refuse to take meds and stop there.
I have had lower Back pain with back spasms a couple times a year. Had an x-ray in the fall of my back which showed curved spine and something else. Lost 1" in height so when I went for my yearly gyno. Checkup, with all of those developments, he wanted me to have the bone test.
Wow, Reeni Wilson, I'm impressed with what you've already done!! Keep it up!
I didn't know for years why my bones hurt, then when I had a bone scan last year, I got the bad news.. The pain goes from 3 to 9, I don't know why I have good days and then bad days.. Osteoporosis is not for for the weak hearted... It "HURTS"...
I turned fifity was dealing with a health diagnosis - CVID and dexa scan is rec for 50 year olds in my province. I was aware I had a previous foot / toe fracture but not aware I had f in the same foot. I spent my summer in a cast- and learning that cvid can cause malabsorption issues - I have always been small height and stature
Yes and no. I was in a lot of pain... Couldn't even turn my head. ( The stiff neck thing came on suddenly) I had bad discs in my neck, etc. But, I think a lot of that stemmed from fibromyalgia because I started getting really stiff muscles in my legs and fatigue set in. I went in for a physical and requested one for a baseline as I was going into menopause. The Dr was hesitant to order it until he learned my mom had osteoporosis, too. I didn't expect the diagnosis to be osteoporosis. That's when I went on a quest for something natural to help. I'm 1/4 " taller than I've ever been in my life! Getting ready to go and get another scan done. (Pain & stiffness gone, too.) Looking forward to the test results!
Becky what do you take? X
I had the x ray last July and it was only when I went to pick up another script they gave me the script fir alondrenic acid and another tab i cant think of off hand, so I said think youve done this wrong im not on these ive never heard of them. The recepiionist looked through my notes and said yes after your results came bk the gp persctibed these. So i said what results, i think then she knew there had been a cock up. I was soon in to see the gp and they explained everything abd when i got home my main gp rang me to apologise. I was more upset as it was just another condition to add to my many others and yet more tabs. Becky I have a lot of your symptoms as I have RA Fibro and spondylitis in my neck now osteo. I too would like to know what you take xx
Thank you everyone, i think I would have been more upset at the lack of communication and everything else if Id had the strength to deal with it all as id just lost my husband in the April so I was both physically and emotionally drained thats why my main gp also rang me as ive been with him 28 years and he was there all the way through rogers illness so some arses would have been kicked that day x
I had some symptoms with my hip for awhile but thought it was an old injury. Then it started very quickly in a matter of months all in less than a year.
becky, PLEASE let me know what you did also. I just learned about mine and I'm sooooo upset and unnerved.
Helen Kay, I totally understand! I felt the same way when I got my diagnosis. I thought I'd done everything right so it upset me even more! I just accepted your friend request.
I take natural fruit veg and beŕry supplements anyway. They help with inflammation and also pains that come with fibromyalgia. Ive bever fekt better so when this pain started it had me confused as to what it could be x
