My son starts on Monday, having 10 sessions, 10 mins each day .
Each patient's treatment will be unique to their diagnosis. I had 30 rounds.
Thank you. I know there is a "range" I was just wondering how big it is.
My mil was supposed to do 30 but she only did about half. This was after chemo and surgery to remove her lung.
How is she
She passed away 2 months ago today.
I had 35 sessions, Mon.-Fri. For 7 weeks
That's how many weeks i completed but never counted, this community is bumming me out.
Pam Stallings my dad has to get about 33~35sessions of radiation too(hasn't started yet) how did you feel&can you give any advice?
I never had any problems. I felt tired, but was having chemo at the same time, so not sure what the cause was. Maybe both. I just found out today that my first PET scan after chemo & radiation, shows that I have no evidence of cancer. Praying for the best for your dad!!
Donnie Bonner, I'm sorry you feel that way. I wasn't counting. That was what they told me my schedule was at the beginning of treatment. I just found out today that my cancer is gone. Best wishes to you
Pam Stallings my dad is also getting chemo&radiation at the same time he is really scared and nervous...... Everyone is telling us he can't handle it since he is so weak but I believe in him I know he can fight this! It brings tears to my eyes hearing that you have no evidence of cancer!! So happy foru! Thanks for the reply!
My mom did 13 sessions they lasted 15 minutes they wanted too do 16 but were afraid more damage
Is it helpful for u
I had 35 Monday thru Friday, takes about 10-15 minutes
I had 67 gy, mon-fri for 6 weeks.
Mine is 30
5 days a week for 5 weeks for me not bad just a little tired only side effect I had.
It's all individualized. Mine was 5 days a week for 6 week totally 36 treatments and chemo once every 3 weeks for 4 treatments. Chest burnt so bad by end that lasted for like 3 weeks and extremely tired after for a long time .
My mother is exhausted. How long did the exhaustion last for you?
And body aches. I feel so bad for her.
CathyAnne Greer do I really want to know wasn't pretty. How old is your mom?
My mom had 30 radiation treatments & 4 or 5 chemo. She did it this past summer 87-88 yrs old... Stage 2. They refused to operate due to her exercise test results( which in my opinion were skewed due to her very low hemoglobin, unrelated to lung cancer). We now wait for the next PET CT scan.
Michelle Franco wow I don't know how an 88 year old could bare those treatments. I am 30 years younger and we're TOUGH.
I had 30 rounds of radiation and 4 chemo sessions
I had 15 rounds
Mine took about 15 minutes each and I had 30 treatments.
Im scheduled for 30-I had #9 today so still have a ways to go!
Yep I'm like pam.. 36 sessions every day for about the same time skin wise it was like a sun burn but interal.. Wow alot of discomfort.
Any tricks to make the esophageal issues any better? Im thinking will just stay on liquid diet for the next month
Oh yes magic mouth wash is amazing and carafate ask doc about these and protonics.. Helps with heart burn and acid reflux
I started carafate yest and zantac been taking twice daily for awhile. I will ask about the magic mouthwash
I used magic mouthwash, but it was for mouth sores from the chemo.
Plenty of stuff out there .. My target was right next to my heart so my esophagus got beat up a little
Mine was 36 radiation and 6 Chemo
I had 30 treatments. 5 days a week for 6 weeks.
I had 30 + 16 chemo
My husband had 33 days of radiation, on his lungs and he had the platinum chemo for weeks before they started the radiation. He getting chemo again now and it's going on 3 years
35 treatments for me.
30 radiation and 16 chemo
I had 20 45 minute rounds of SBRT radiation.
I had stereotactic radiation for 8 sessions. It was painless and I had very few side effects. Very manageable. Look up SBRT. It was every other day. They don't use it for all situations, but it's worth asking about.
I did 30.
30 on mediastinum and 4 SBRT on lung
I did 35
Dwayne had 30 after 8 months of chemo
I did 37. The radiation is individualized for each person
Monday through Friday, for 4 weeks, was gonna go 6 weeks md said didn't need to
I think the focus is how much gy (radiation). You can have any number of tx. It depends on how much radiation you are getting. There is a "cutoff" point where the gy you get will no longer prolong life or "kill the cancer".
I had 25 after 4 rounds of chemo.
My mother went on certain days, not everday and her sessions were long. Hours.
