I have a serious serious addiction to sugar and carbs. Like it's overpowering me. All I want is bagels, bread, cereal, pasta, grits, rice, potatoes, etc.. Currently breastfeeding my 2 mo old baby girl. Been battling thrush for a month. Feeling rundown. Stressed and irritable. Milk supply is suffering. What can I do to curb cravings and fight this? Gentle detox ?

The foods you are craving are food for the Candida, which is a yeast, which is basically thrush. Can you switch to eating sweet potato brown rice quinoa whole grain pasta whole grain sprouted bread oatmeal.. I think you need carbs if your nursing just better ones. And make green smoothies.

Ugh. I disagree with all the carb lovers. Not every body can live off carbs. They raise the blood sugar as much as a candy bar would. I have blood sugar issues and have horrible issues when I eat carbs. I bloat, joint pain, headaches, tiredness, the carbs she's talking about are turned to straight sugar. My best advice is to cut them out cold turkey. Cut off the sugar and processed carbs completely. You'll go through the withdrawal headaches and cravings for about 3 to 5 days and then you'll feel better. It gets easier if you can make it through a week. If you eat carbs, let it be a whole food. As long as you're getting enough calories for breastmilk, cutting processed food won't hurt you.
Thrush has been a battle I faught for a long time with my son 8 months. Tried everything and it just kept coming back. Changed my diet, and that helped for a little while as long as I was super strict with it. When I wasn't it came back. Used all the products to kill it. Some worked some didn't but it kept coming back. Something had to give. The cravings where real and hard. I found something that worked for them. Once I got my body not physically craving the sugars then I could work on my mind. A tool is just that. Something to help you. It doesn't do the work for you. And you have to be ready to use it. I found a combination of things helped. Something to regulate my blood sugar. Something to fix my gut. Something to help my mood swings. Pray you can find what works for you too.
