So my urinary test came pack positive for infection, which I already knew. I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg tablets. Have to take then for 7 days. I absolutely HATE taking antibiotics and I rarely ever do, but this infection is the worst I've ever had. The doctor knocked on my back and my kidneys are hurting. What are some things besides probiotics and yogurt I can use while on the abx? I sometimes get a yeast infection after abx use
Oil of oregano capsules, olive lead capsules
You can get oil of oregano in capsules as well. Taking an antibiotic such as what the doctor prescribed will destroy the gut balance. Whereby a natural antibiotic will not. Since you do have an infection get a multi source probiotic to boos the immune system. Better to err on the side of caution.
That's because abx kills hood bacteria. Drink a corkful of Bragg's Apple cider vinegar in water daily....
catherine could I mix it with cranberry juice? ACV makes my stomach turn
Yes but it needs to be the no sugar added variety
This is only natural sugars. Nothing added. It taste horrible actually lol
Fluoroquinolone family abx are infamous for causing many long-lasting health issues. Please research before taking them. D-mannose is an option that won't cause the side effects that abx can.
Where can I get this?
Most health food stores have it
This is like the worst antibiotic on the market!! why are they still prescribing this?! There are a ton of lawsuits for it
It's hard on you kidneys I'm surprised your doctor is still prescribing this. Make sure you drink lots and lots of water with it if you get it filled
And they are made with fluoride
Lemon water! Use real lemon though not lemon juice I used to have chronic UTI's and I started drinking lemon water everyday. I haven't had one in over 2 years
Cirpo causes nerve damage.... There is a big law suit against the drug company now.
Do you have any information on this? Why are they still prescribing it?
Because it hasn't been banned yet. Ask for something else. Macrobid. Or Amoxicillan.
I use baking soda to cure urinary tract infections. I drink 3 1/2 teaspoons a day till gone! Urinary tract infections are caused by a low ph of the urine. Read the book alkalize or die.
rod, can I just use regular baking soda? All I have is the Arm & Hammer kind
Check the ingredients and make sure it is aluminum free. Needs to be taken on empty stomach cause it neutralizes acid.
I'm afraid with my kidneys already hurting that I won't get rid of the infection quick enough and it'll get worse. I'm suffering from neasua, and a massive headache and my kidney area hurts.
Just get another antibiotic that's not so extreme as cipro.
D-mannose for urinary tract infections
Where can I purchase this?
Vitamin Shoppe..... It's amazing. I coupled it with Bladdex
rhoda I'm scared to wait another day. Will I die if I don't take something right now lol or will my kidneys shut down? I'm so paranoid
Am sure your kidneys would have to be in horrible shape to shut down overnight
Sorry to take so long to respond
Cipro drugs are among the worst! Google it!! I'd refuse them and make doctor prescribe something else, for real. Good luck!
Cipro is bad!!!
it's a strong antibiotic, is prescribed for person undergoing a biopsy test; ,normally they prescribe 3pills (one pill a day b4 the test, second pill the day of the testand the last one the third one the next day of the test)
D-mannose and baking soda in water cured my son of a uti
My grandmother has them constantly, they put her on all these big dog meds that have horrible side effects, we got the Dmannose and she kept getting worse. I was going to suggest her taking the baking soda but I read that it takes the ph level down which helps the bacteria thrive and prolongs the infection... İdk if that's true or not grr. We were really hoping for the Dmannose stuff. I think she is a very acidic person already. Poor diet, my first thought was that she needed to lower her ph and eat alkaline. Maybe after she gets over this infection she could do the baking soda long-term and have less chronic UTI issues.
A person can have damaged blood vesicles or congestion with blockage in the kidneys without realizing it. As layer upon layer are formed, kidney stones get larger and larger until they finally produce symptoms. People who are especially at risk are those who take antibiotics for UTI's since antibiotics simply kill bacteria, but do not remove their old residues and mucous strands on which kidney stones form. Herbal treatments fight infection and clear out congestion to avoid kidney stone accumulation and kidney disease. http://www.naturalhealingojai.com/health-programs/kidneybladder-cleanse
Baking soda raises the ph... Drink some and then test your urine. Humans struggle with a ph that's to low .... Very rarely to high!
The reason you get a yeast infection after antibiotics is because they kill off good bacteria too and allow fungi/yeast to get an edge. Dr.'s used to prescribe an anti fungal after antibiotics. A practice that not many do now.
People that have a uti will have a urine ph of about 4. Needs to be 7.3 or above.
you can have cranberry, and make infusion of parsley and drink, wash yourself using an olive oil soap frequently, If you have back problem(or back spasm) you can use take All-bran cereals bcoz it contains 35% Magnesium & you can buy big cylindric hard foam s
Bactrim is safer
Stay away from Flox family unless it's last resort
Cipro is a very potent antibiotic with serious possible adverse effects. It should not be used as a first treatment for a uti. The FDA had an all day advisory meeting on November 5 of this year discussing benefit versus risk. I took two pills in Match and could not stand up due to severe pain. There are other safer antibiotics for UTIs.
Has anyone said Cranberry Extract yet? It's pretty fast and potent for kidneys and urinary tract infections
Where do you get that?
samir it's a strong antibiotic, is prescribed for person undergoing a biopsy test; ,normally they prescribe 3pills (one pill a day b4 the test, second pill the day of the testand the last one the third one the next day of the test), you have to take it with food; you can have cranberry, and make infusion of parsley and drink, wash yourself using an olive oil soap frequently, If you have back problem(or back spasm) you can use take All-bran cereals bcoz it contains 35% Magnesium & you can buy big cylindric hard foam you place it on mattress and on your back you roll up and back doing massage to your back; And for your side kidney, usually I use Curcumen I warm fry pan with oil and grate curcumen with few garlic, as well as grate a small quantity of ginger with 2 eggs, or the white of the eggs and eat ;
Get D-Mannose! And drink lots of lemon water w trace minerals in it and blueberries pineapple pomegranates and drink unsweetened cranberry juice
I'm drinking my dmannose in my lemon water lol. That's good right? Will this actually rid the Infection? I don't want it spreading to my kidneys
Cranberry juice still works wonders for those type of infections!
So, I got DMannose and Bladdex. I'm throwing out the Cipro. Do I take these in combination or seperate? Will they actually get RID of the infection bc my back hurts really bad where my kidneys are and I think it's in there.
What did your doctor say about your kidney pain
She told me to take the antibiotics LOL
That's what I was going to do, until I heard how bad they are.
Yh. You can Google D-mannose and kidney infections
How much did D-mannose did you take a day? Just as directed or what? I already drank that in my lemon water, drinking a big glass of pur cranberry juice right now (no added sugar) and then a bottle of water, AND taking my bladdex. How many days should I do this? Until my back stops hurting?
I took mine together, pineapple and/or cranberry juice will help with your UTI and kidney infection and lots of water to flush your tract
i lived for years after my first kid with kidney infections. Took years to learn to drink more water then i thought i needed. You need a glass before bed you need a glass in the morning and of course with every meal even snacks. Cranberry supplements work well take lots thats what i do and if i want coffee/ caffeine i take my supplements before and after. Nothing but water while sick though and hardly eat just keep drinking water more then you can stand it will flush out
Is it normal to not have an appetite with a bladder infection? I'm not hungry at all, even a bit neasous
if your back hurts your uti has caused a kidney infection! Take the meds! Dont play with your kidneys. Drink only water from now on and forever only a glass here and there as a treat like joiice. Cranberry juice will not help unless your are drinking the real stuff without added sugar and that is unlikely because hardly anyone can down that kind of juice. Take your crandberry suppliment now and forever just about everyday. NO Caffeine salty foods, fried foods.
I don't want to take cipro if it has a lawsuit against it for possible nerve damage. Should I ask my doctor to prescribe something else
My kidneys do hurt, my back hurts
yes there are other meds i have taken just about all of them..... Mine was so bad the day after having my son and the second time first was while 7 months pregnant under weight and so was the baby but he held on just enough to be 4 ounces over so he did not need the incubator born at 35 weeks. ..... You need meds if your back hurts it has moved its way up your bladder and into your kidney.... Are you peeing blood? Call doc ask for another but i did take it and i am fine
just keep in mind you can take all the meds you want but if you are not taking care of yourself it will keep coming back water if life! Drink it
A uti can lead to kidney infection. I was almost there. It's not something to mess around with. I hate antibiotics as well. Had cipro. And it worked wonderfully. Inwent from barely being able to stand because of pain in kidneys to normal withing 2 days. Take it for as long as prescribed. Or ask for another effective one. Good luck. And start drinking lots of pure cranberry juice. There is definitely a time and place for using antibiotics. In my personal opinion once your kidneys start hurting I'd take it. If it were earlier stages of a uti I would suggest just doing natural remedies.
Does Dmannose cause diarrhea?
I was fine
I'm getting mixed reviews with diarrhea. Acute pyelonephritis, I have a lot of the symptoms. Great. I'm just going to get another script for something else. Maybe Amoxicillin. Can't play around with the kidneys
Magnesium phosphate - cell salt
I have symptoms of acute pyelonephritis. Thanks everyone I'm just going to ask for a different script maybe Amoxicillin
