Suggestions on birth control

Tmi alert.
Hey natural moms, I need to ask about birth control! I am all about NFP but I have a mini heart attack every month and I want to make sure I don't have any surprises because I have two littles already and I am not ready for a third. Maybe one day but not anytime soon! What works for you?? I don't want the shot or implant. Both sound horrible to me..

My friend loves the Mirena. She recommended me getting that one. I haven't yet. I have an appt on he 6th. I want something that stops periods.( Not natural I know)My periods are terrible. Cramps are excruciating.

Carrie Gates

Mirena was terrible for me.... I never had a successful pregnancy again, have pain from scarring in my uterus, emotionally the hormones made me ANGRY, like an internal rage that was always bubbling on the surface. I had it removed and in a few days my normal calm state washed back over me..... Craziest I have ever felt.

Pamela Powers 3 years

I love my Mirena and know many women that also love theirs. No periods and no issues. As long as you check every month or so to make sure the strings are in place you're good to go.

Torrie Trevino 3 years

Not everyone is so lucky, you never know what your reaction will be until it's to late. It's important to know the truth about both sides and make a really informed decision.

Pamela Powers 3 years

Mirena messes people up. Not worth it.

Jamie Thomas 3 years

Ive had 2 mirenas so far and i love it. The hormones can off set you for a week

Alicia Conn
A

The mirena will. Ive always had painful heavy periods mirena is the only fda approved product i say that with a grain of salt lol thats for painful periods mine the first time before i had that one taken out to conceive my daughter my period was so light i didnt need anything but a pantyliner just in case

Alicia Conn
A

The Mirena will what?

Carrie Gates 3 years

Reduce painful periods

Alicia Conn 3 years

You still get periods on the Mirena?

Carrie Gates 3 years

I didnt after a while. And it stops cramping i just got thensecond one put in in march and already its getting so light.

Alicia Conn 3 years

I want to get a diaphragm

Hannah Murdock

Ive thought about it but they are tons of work

Alicia Conn 3 years

so are babies. Lol

Hannah Murdock 3 years

Yes but i have a connective tissue disorder so id probably sublux 3 times putting it in. Haha.

Alicia Conn 3 years

But i do like the method ive used today sponge too.

Alicia Conn 3 years

I have one. It's worked so far for me

Dhyana Tillman 3 years

I would be careful with the mirena, it was the worst experience a friend ever suffered because of that birth control. She had to have an emergency surgery to remove it because it embedded where it shouldn't have. Not only her but many women are suing, please research before going that direction.

Edna Mills

Yeah... I guess it's different for everyone. I am so undecided.

Nothing hormonal that's for sure. I am so shocked by some of the ladies on this natural page who don't even practice natural lifestyles. Just saying, it does no good to do one thing natural if everything else you practice is not. You either practice a natural lifestyle or you don't.

Devon Parks

Hopefully they're here to learn to do it if they don't already. That's where those who live a natural lifestyle come to encourage each other that everything and everyone are All ONE and that's how we all heal!

Rosemary Elmore 3 years

Oh no Sanctimommy

Jenny Lusk

Before we get judgy let's remember not everyone is on the same path to being "natural" as you may be.

Jenny Lusk

Agreed

Jasmine Baldwin 3 years

Thank you. Some of these woman are just so judgmental...

Megan Hackett 3 years

There is no safe birth control. None. Tracking cycle/ovulation and condoms. Thats really it. Any synthetic hormones are toxic and have long term side effects.

Dianna Carrillo

We trust God, no other option is natural at all.

Christy Farrell

Contragel and a sponge.

Tiffany Huddleston

Mirena was the worst thing I have ever done to my body, a diaphragm is what I would recommend. It was really terrible.

Pamela Powers
P

Mirena or any other uterine device can cause the body to attack healthy tissue.. And form scar tissue. Objects.. Any object is not meant to be in our body. Again... There is no safe birth control. And its sad women are trusting doctors with their female health and reproductive organs that can be forever changed.

Dianna Carrillo
D

I was forever changed by Mirena, I DO NOT recommend.

Pamela Powers 3 years

Sorry to hear that. Seeing a huge trend with women suffering from these things.

Dianna Carrillo 3 years

Cancer stats are alarming. Infertilty.. Endometriosis.. Etc.

Dianna Carrillo 3 years

I didn't know any better then, my doc acted like I was crazy when I suggested that it was causing problems, I insisted It be removed, I only had it a few months.

Pamela Powers 3 years

I had a tubal ligation. I hate to say it but I am so glad I did. I already have 4 girls! It feels great not to worry about birth control. I went that route due to my high blood pressure which contributed to two emergency c-sections.

Christie Crump

Try nuvaring I love it. The depo made me a crazy person. You put it in and leave it for 3 weeks then take it out to have your period. It's slow release so it's not a rush of hormones at one time. I loved it. You can but don't need to take it out for sex and you can just put it back in. You can get more than 1 at a time and you refrigerate it until you need it. It made my life easy and eased my periods as well as my pcos symptoms.

Steph Darnell
S

And it's made of silicone so it's not the worst option in terms of safety.

Steph Darnell
S

Mind you I got pregnant THE month I stopped using it. And after being told for 6 years I'd never ovulate or conceive on my own... So it really threw things on track for me in a way they never were before.

Steph Darnell
S

Nuvaring is one of the worst. carries over a 50percent higher risk of blood clots than any other birth control. So im sorry but thats not correct to claim safety.

Dianna Carrillo
D

Do you have a link for that I'd like the Info before going back on it because I totally loved it and never read that and I read my insert very carefully.

Steph Darnell
S

That's vanity fair and women's health.

Steph Darnell
S

It's not a source I'd look at seriously. But I'll look into it thanks.

Steph Darnell 3 years

Ok I'll look. Birth control isn't natural at all. This woman asked a question and I answered to the best of my ability just as you did. But a shot with a ton of toxins must be a better option or a metal device inserted into the uterus.

Steph Darnell
S

I don't trust the rings or marinas. I've heard awful things. I guess I'm gonna have to look into those vegan rubbers haha. And maybe ovulation tracking. I'm making my way to a natural life. I just want to work on my career before another life blesses me.

Sterling Grover

Check out a diaphragm, less invasive, effective and easy to use.

Pamela Powers 3 years

We use these. Vegan and not full of garbage like a lot of other chemicals.

com-t3ffhm2icfajbjy4id1j.jpg

Jamie Thomas 3 years

And these. Also natural condoms that are vegan.

com-48df3o2i5v9fi3d8ysve.jpg

Jamie Thomas 3 years

why not just use condoms? There are many types out there.
I do not do hormone birth control. Either use nothing at certain times of the month or condoms when we need to.

Condoms break too easy and some people are allergic to latex.

Carrie Gates 3 years

Yes, although my 18 yo is not sexually active we had to have a serious talk about that because she is allergic to latex! She found out the hard way! She put on a pair of gloves at work and they made her hands burn literally burn. İmagine what it would do to your vagina OUCH

Rose Rich 3 years

I'm allergic to latex

Carrie Gates 3 years

And sheep skin condoms stink really bad.

Carrie Gates 3 years

There are some good latex free condoms on the market

Vanessa Slaughter

Your ob should be able to make one for you.

Alicia Conn 3 years

I Liked Today Sponge the Soapy Part Is a bummer

Alicia Conn 3 years

I have to call him. That would be great. The pharmacy said $6,000 for it??? That's insane

Vanessa Slaughter 3 years

Otherwise have the doctor get a formulary exemption they do them and its easy for it stating you have tried and can not tolerate bc and they will cover it 100%

Alicia Conn 3 years

I use the nuva ring too(if I am needing something) it's not natural but safer than a lot of bc and the only one that didn't make me gain weight or act crazy (or like the depo that made me bleed for 6months straight)

Rosie Diggs

Condoms n know ur cycle! But don't listen to me I'm pregnant w #7! I'm tying my tubes for sure. All methods of birth control have failed for me or caused horrible side effects. Good luck

Copper IUD is chemical free

Stephanie Dillard

Uhm, copper IS a chemical.... They may be hormone free, but not chemical free.

Tiffany Huddleston

My hubby and I just use condoms.

Vanessa Pike

See this is my biggest issue. PCOS causes my cycle to be all over the place. Condoms are an absolute no go in our marriage. And I hate synthetic hormones. Ugh.

Becky Mcintyre

NFP and around ovulation abstain, pull out (not 100% but still helpful) or use a condom. The only downside is if you ovulate more than once a cycle - it isn't common but is normal for me but I love my 2-year-old that was a product of a 2nd ovulation lol. So other than a 2nd unexpected ovulation this method has worked for us and DH will get a vasectomy when 100% sure we're finished.
