7. Soft drinks = Soft Bones = Osteoporosis Soft drinks containing phosphoric acid are definitely linked to osteoporosis (a weakening of your skeletal structure) because they lead to lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in your blood. When phosphate levels are high and calcium levels are low, calcium is pulled out of your bones.
I don't know the answer but caffeine isn't supposed to be good for your bones.
Sugar a legal drug/poison
Can I just say that I drink loads of Caffine free coke and Ive improved my bone density, so hows that then??
I know, not all things we read or hear about are so black and white as we are led to believe and each of us will experience things differently.
Glad it works for you.... But, my plan is to NEVER drink soft drinks again... Too many toxic chemical.
We do I miss drinking a cold glass of coke to be honest.
I don't drink alcohol, I don't smoke, I eat healthily and I exercise every day, I enjoy my life, a glass or two of caffeine free diet coke a cola..... My guilty pleasure... Oh and chocolate!! lol.
It sounds like you have a lot of other factors that are helping with your bone health.
Yep. I improved my spine from -2.7 to -2.1, out of osteoporosis and back into osteopenia. So I wont be changing too much in the next two yrs.
Although I have stopped the prunes and started taking a Boron supplement.
Sally Piper what have you been doing to improve your bone health please?
Think it's posted at the top of this site .
Which one do you drink sally
Caffeine free coke. I don't like Pepsi. Lol
Is it the diet one or just caffeine free? No I don't like Pepsi
I will definitely be taking one with me on the 16th as at 60yrs old I'm competing in my first Marathon!! The Caffeine Free one is diet. Gold label.
sally, how long was the period of time in getting your bone density improved?
I have a scan every two years. My hips improved in the third and fourth year my spine deteriorated, my spine improved in the fifth and sixth, my hips stayed the same.
No. I only take Vit D3. I do lots of weights and walking. Try and eat as healthily as I can. I used to eat 5 or 6 prunes a day but now take a Boron supplement.
sally, do you take calcium? I take New Chapter Bone Strength.
No. My calcium levels are perfect for my age.
Hey well done and good luck to you, you do right
Think I'm lucky that I don't like coffee. I do drink tea but only decaffeinated and not many.
Is Whey protein powder good for Osteoporosis?
There was a study which seemed to prove that eating more protein than the RDA stimulated bone growth, most elderly people do not eat anywhere near enough protein.

I havnt drank a fizzy drink of any kind since I was 20 still have osteo sadly
They are keen to blame certain things I think.
Yep because it's one of those things that they can't put in a box and get to the bottom of, because it affects so many different people from every walk of life and from areas all over the world!! No common denominator.
I've never been a Soda drinker but do have 1-2cups of decafe coffee a day, I'm 70 & had smoked many yrs, I went cold turkey last yr. Still have cravings but have not given in to them, funny thing is it was a dr. I had that said I should smoke to help me relax, crazy, that was in the late 60's!
That's good regarding smoking I'm trying to quit smoking it's quite hard
Good luck, I tried many times without luck then last yr. I set a goal & stuck to it. I had tried many things in the past without luck this time it worked. I had to remove & clean everything in my home, amazing how much you can smell the smoke once you remove it from your life, best of luck, just don't give up!
I'm off them 7 months and I am so delighted with myself but sadly my sense of smell hasn't really come back yet
Well done sharon
Thanks Philippa and u can do it I used an e cig and kept reducing the strength only took me 8 weeks to get to 0 nicotine and then i gave it up too. Just pick a date when u know nothing is coming up and that week do a countdown, my last box lasted 4 days lol then d day came and that was it. I told nobody at all either as I didn't want any added pressure. ( I actually think it helped) . Best of luck and if and when u give up if u need a chat u know we are all here foru. X
Sharon Mcbride I did the same, once I set my goal date I didn't tell anyone, I didn't want to fail once again! Good luck!
Carbonated beverages load carbon dioxide into the body, displacing oxygen, which nourishes every cell in the body. When the CO2 leaves via the veins to go to the lungs to be expelled, the O2 comes in with life support. To have healthy, oxygenated cells, avoid the carbonated drinks.
