Just a quick question. I had a lobe removed, along with lymph nodes just 5 weeks ago. Now I feel a cold coming on, just sneezing and stuffy nose. But if I start coughing, I should be concerned, right? Thanks
Fever? My surgeon told me at first sign, to go get on antibiotics... BUT I had my entire lung removed. Sooo, you may want to call your surgeon
christine... Can I ask what stage you were in?
Oncology said 2b, but after surgery, they discovered I was really only 1..... Yay!
Did you have any tests prior to surgery?
Ct scans, mri, pet scan, 2 biopsies
carol.... What stage were you in? You had lymph nodes removed too? Just asking as we are waiting for results from my mom's test.
heather, I was told Stage 1B? Not sure about all of the Pathology... He needs to explain it to me again.
I had some removed for testing, they came back clean
christine, mine, too. Ugly scar on my neck....
I had my top right lobe removed in july this year, eight weeks later I had a barking cough, along with a really sore throat, then followed by a mucus cough, am ok now without antibiotics.
What are you worried about? Meaning specifically? If you're sick, go to the Dr, get antibiotics if needed.. Life goes on even after cancer. You'll still get colds, rashes etc. Good luck!
Hi Carol Connor- I have had the same surgery 4 years ago, along with all the lymph nodes in the center of my chest. If you are getting a cold, do let your Dr know just so they can keep an eye on you. Since colds etc can either be bacterial or a virus your physicians will just want to make sure you stay healthy. If it's viral, sadly there is nothing that can be done. Bacterial they can put you on medication should you need it. Stay well hydrated (!!!) wash your hands a lot, keep up with your protein, multi-vitamin, and keep walking/spirometer. (I am a patient but also a rehab therapist) If you show any signs of fever, do put a call into your Dr. Right away. Lastly- wear a surgical mask if you need to go out in public shopping. Who cares what people think! I hope you feel better- xo
Thank you, elizabeth!
