How many women with RA on this site have breast implants? I know this is a personal question; but I'm hearing a lot about breast implants illness. It seems to have a lot of the same symptoms....
I also has just quit taking contraception pills a few years before the diagnosis and then went into menopause. I remember back having RA sypmtoms for several years before the diagnosis.
I can see how breast implants could trigger RA. Would never get them with an existing autoimmune disease. Could trigger major flares with your body reacting to the implants.
I have been a SS disability lawyer for 23 years and have had several clients with fibromyalgia that was attributed to their breast implants, and about half had their symptoms resolve or decrease significantly once they had their implants removed. But fibromyalgia is a very different problem. I imagine some women could have RA triggered by implants, but I don't know, I never came across that. The women who had fibromyalgia symptoms found out, after having their implants removed, that there were miniscule leaks in their implants and that was infiltrating their body.
I know when I broke my neck a section of the vertebrae fell off and they wanted to implant and artificial piece, and one of the surgeons said my body could reject it due to having RA. I chose to not have the surgery and deal with the pain. I definitely wouldn't put unnecessary implants in.
I had rheumatoid arthritis in remission and I had the Mirena placed a few years ago and then I had a full-on flare-up for months about one month after I had it placed. Did lots of research and there is silicone in the Mirena contraceptive. I had it removed my symptoms went away immediately. Food for thought.
Not here.
None for me

My mother in law had hers leak, doctors don't know how to treat it. She has found silicone in her hair! Now has fibro, autoimmune disease.
What autoimmune disease does she have?
She has Lupus
From the breast implants? Or in addition to?
