Wondering how do you deal with bloating/ gas after switched to raw plant based diet? Dad has been on raw plant based diet for 2weeks and I have increase the vege intake and hes been burping and passing a lot of gas. Is that something we should be concern of or the body will adjust and it will slowly go away?

Enzymes
digestive enzymes both food based and supplements. Celery juice should be a good one
Make sure he is getting lots of good probiotics.
Also essential oil of peppermint
Agree... DoTerra has DigestZen too that is out of the world for bloating.
Digesting essential oils is risky treatment.
Hi kai, cancer nutritionist here. He just needs a little time to adjust to his new diet. It should go away in a week or so. You can also use papaya enzymes to help him if it just to uncomfortable. On a raw vegan diet, he should be eliminating solid (torpedo shaped) 2 times or sometimes more a day. If his system gets backed up this could also cause some gas and bloating. AND tell your dad heck yes... Raw vegan is hard and alot of men say NO WAY! He is a rockstar! XOXO Feel free to DM me if you have more questions.
Thanks leslie. I'm happy that dad is willing to do the raw vegan because he is determine to fight this nasty disease and win this
Probably better to back up and do the protocol for healing and leaky gut. It shows that he's not digesting food well and probably has a build up in the colon.
What is protocol for healing and leaky gut?
Kai Wilkinson, no grains, Dairy, soy. Nothing acidic. No vinegar, no pineapple, no citrus. Imagine if you had a cut on your arm and anything you rubbed in it that would burn, you cannot put in your stomach. The lining of the stomach for most people is damaged, from food allergies or a standard American diet. You have to think of the lining of your stomach as an open wound and you want to treat it very gently to let it heal. Sweet potatoes, greens, wild caught Seafood, use ghee instead of butter, no alcohol. It'll take five or six months but it will heal.
I do not think it is leaky gut. He may be developing symptoms of SIBo and IBS.
Gary Ballard what is SIBo or IBS?
Gary Ballard there's no discomfort or pain or diarrhea. Just gas
Make sure your drinking plenty of Distilled Water
Ok thanks wii
Drinking distilled will make your Gut Alkaline that which will help you tremendsly
Eat more fruit
Likely he needs some well cooked veg for his gut to heal a bit and not all raw. If someone’s gut needs healing they don’t have what it takes to break down a lot of food that’s raw.
I thought if I cook the vege the essential nutrients might be lost
Kai Wilkinson overcook and will lose some - well-cooked doesn’t mean overcooked. Some veg are much better for you cooked. Broccoli a good example. Break down the cells walls and a enzyme reaction releases more cancer killing compounds. Raw isn’t always better.
Laura Wiseman ok. I wanted him to eat the best anti cancer food every meal and I keep hearing a lot of people saying go full raw
Kai Wilkinson you’ll certainly need to make that decision for yourself but I do not personally recommend it for most. I feel that all raw is just too hard for someone to process who has a compromised gut. Pretty much anyone with cancer has a compromised gut. Especially if they’ve been through traditional treatments. Try pulling back on full raw for a bit. Try 75/25 - keeping the raw for things like berries and lightly cook veg. Broccoli, for instance, is going to do well with a steam of 3.5-4 min (break down to florets, of course). Cooked enough to start to break down its cell walls but preserve all the great anti cancer nutrients. See if this helps your dads indigestion a bit. Slowly ramp back up to all raw if that’s important to you. Also, as others have suggestion, enzymes to help him break his food down but quite likely he also need HCl to break down his food, too. More often I see hydrochloric acid helping a great deal. If you have access Designs for Health has a good one with ox bile, too. Digestzymes.
Kai Wilkinson wii cook all are vegetables in a pressure cooker they're not overdone they're nice and crunchy but lots of nutrients left in only a couple minutes compare to whole bunch of water steaming your vegetables in a pressure cooker who would have thought of really works great try it can pick up a pressure cooker at a thrift store cheap
probiotics
It’s called adjustment. The body needs to get use to the new diet and for the gut bacteria to get use to the change
cook it. Even Chris at ChrisBeatsCancer suggests that if you have trouble digesting raw, to cook it.
KOMBUCHA is wonderful
Digestive enzymes with each meal to help digestion
Pancreatin and Papaya supreme
Lugol's iodine solution to help with stomach acid, candida, metabolism and pH.
It takes time for the good gut bacteria to multiply and the gas to subside. In the meantime some probiotics should help.
Much better to do prebiotics.
Water is the cure it's really easy to get your gut alkaline just start drinking plenty of distilled water day after day is better than tap water Spring Water bottled water because all that stuff so full of dirt total dissolved solids where is distilled water is pure like rain water it's a vapor it will do more healing your body than all the other waters combined guaranteed
