My dad didn't. It has changed colour though if that's possible. He always looked a little like a feisty Viking, but now he looks like a feisty Viking that has had some sun, lol. His hair has kind of gone sandy blonde instead of a chestnut red. X
My oncology nurse told me to cut my hair really short because I was going to lose it. Well I cut a bit off the length and she told me no cut it short. I told her when I chemo for breast cancer I never lost any hair and she replied with you'll lose it for sure this time. Guess what, it thinned but that was about it. I'm still trying 4 years later to get the length back.
My hair which had been white since I was 30 plus turned back Lol it grew out white again at 70 plus after chemo for colon cancer. Not sure if I will have chemo at 84 for lung cancer. Time will tell
Yes, mine started to fall out after my second treatment. I had very long hair and they advised me to cut it so I wouldn't have long strands all over. I had carboplatin and abraxane. I have been in remission 1 1/2 years and my hair is growing pretty fast and in better shape than it was.
I lost mine. But it did come back a bit thicker and a little lighter in color. Not all chemos will make you lose your hair and we're all different. They told me that I would lose my hair this time too but so far after 4 treatments it's still here..
I bitched out of chemo after watching how the people ahead of me reacted. Added years to my life I believe. Will be starting it though end of Dec. Maybe.
billy, everybody reacts differently and chemo is nothing like it used to be. The premeds are great now too. I will pray you have an easy time of it too. For me it really wasn't too bad, but I did lose my hair twice.
i have had 6 different treatments and only 1 took my hair with it docetaxol, on cisplatin it thinned out but i had very thick hair and a lot of it so it looked normal. İ would say loosing my hair was hard to deal with the first time, but i relised being alive to see my kids grow is more important than how i look,. but it took me a little bit to get there in all honesty. You have to go at your own pace
Breast cancer chemo 4 yrs ago- lost all. This Time carboplatin and Taxotere- it thinned- alot- but didn’t lose all. Had it cut short due to the thinning.
I really think by looking at all of these responses that it depends on the person because no two persons cancers are alike. But with that being said I did cisplatin and alimta and did not lose my hair.
Taxol & carbo - thinning started one week after 6th chemo treatment. Completed 30 rads too. Was told I would loose it. Not yet - I have been taken 2,000 mg biotin.
My mom didn’t lose her hair with any of the treatments except docetaxol. Agreed that bald is better than dead. However, my mom was a bit “defeated” after she lost her hair. Before losing her hair, nobody could tell she was sick. She is 84. Diagnosed at 82. Once she lost her hair, everybody could see she was sick. This bothered her more than anything. It’s coming back in full force, though. In July, she had a few wisps. Now, she has a head full of very thick hair.
Would have lost it with Cisplatin a few years ago but tried cold caps and saved it. Now I’m on a targeted therapy pill and lost 80% of my hair (but loving my new wig options!)
Hello. Can you please tell me what targeted pill you are taking? I am on Tarceva. Havent lost hair, but it is growing crazy and coarse! My eyelashes are out of control !
Bobbi Barron Very interesting. I am in the very early stages of finding out if I qualify for a new trial using.. A Pfizer drug with a combination of Palbociclib. I have EGFR mutations. Tarceva is not working.
Bobbi Barron I have Exon 21... But other EGFR mutations as well. Repeating the biopsy and genetic mutations and a ton of scans coming to qualify. I'm excited ! !
My husband hasn't. Gemzar/Cisplatin are his treatment drugs.
I'm very attached to my hair
Understand, but even if you do... It grows back Dead hair cells are better than live cancer cells.

My mom did not lose her hair, got just a little thinner though.
Good luck
My dad didn't. It has changed colour though if that's possible. He always looked a little like a feisty Viking, but now he looks like a feisty Viking that has had some sun, lol. His hair has kind of gone sandy blonde instead of a chestnut red. X

Missy Dailey it’s a clinical trial.... Pozitinib. I’ve had to trim my eyelashes frequently
Bobbi Barron Very interesting. I am in the very early stages of finding out if I qualify for a new trial using.. A Pfizer drug with a combination of Palbociclib. I have EGFR mutations. Tarceva is not working.
Missy Dailey Pozitinib is specific to EGFR Exon 20
