My uncle is on this. The doctors told him just to go home on hospice. My uncle insisted. Dr started him on Keytruda. The doctors can not believe he is doing so well and keytruda is working so good for him.
My hubby did 2 times of it in July and it spread to the other lung and his kidney. After those two treatments Dr said she couldn't do anything. He died October 8th
Karen Richard Keytruda does not come in pill form. It's given via IV (or infused through his Port) typically every three weeks. It's one of the Immunotherapy drugs and works quite well for many. Generally most patient's are on it for about 12 weeks and they'll then do a CT Scan to see how it's working. Best wishes...
Non Small Cell Lung Cancer as well as other types of cancer. You can go online to the Keytruda website for lots of information. It's manufactured by Merck. It is not being used for several types of Cancer and can be used alone and as a first line treament for some patients who test high for a biomarker called PLD1 -- There is also a new "Triplet" of two Chemo Drugs (Carbo, Alimta) and Keytruda and in this triplet it can be given regardless of PDL1 Status.
My dad did 4 treatments. Did not respond well. He is now on chemo. Makes him feel really bad but last scan showed the chemo is working... I wish he would have responded to keytruda... Heard so many good things about it... Good luck!
My father was first on keytruda for treatment. While on keytruda he had progression. He did not respond to keytruda. He so far has responded very well to his first 4 cycles of chemo. He has 1 more this year. That will make 8 chemo treatments since June. Then we will rescan....
I'm happy to hear that he is doing good. My mom begin keytruda last week and she is not responding well. She has stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma. Her body is too weak for chemo.
My husband has already gone thru chemo then out on avastin. Tumor was stable until this last pet scan no shows a change a possibly in a lymph node. Also cells in the pleural fluid. Hopefully they will test to see if he can do keytruda.
Keytruda did not work for me because I have a ALK mutation in my cancer. I went to different oncologist and she put me on a targeted therapy for that mutation and my tumors are shrinking I am really glad I changed Drs.
Did not work for me, and I am negative for pdl1 but had to try. I had disease progression and got a very bad cough from it. Now back on chemo gemcitabine. Hope this works for you guys
My dad has had two infusions of Keytruda so far. Treatment got interrupted due to pneumonia and surgery to remove fluid from his lung chest wall. Hopefully he will be healthy to get his third treatment on Wednesday. Two oncologists he has seen told us that so many patients on Keytruda seem like they get worse before they get well.
For those in this group who are getting good results from Keytruda treatment, I would like to share a breakthrough in Immunotherapy treatment: Do not quit treatment, be on it as long as it continues to work for you. My dad's oncologist learned it at a recent lung cancer conference he attended. If you need his name, pls feel free to pm me; your oncologist could discuss this with him.
My mom has nsclc with 90% PD-L1 3.7 mm tumor on left lung with mets to lower lympnode. So far had one Keytruda treatment earlier this month and no side effects. I hope it's working.
I asked for it but they said I am not suitable. I have now asked for Opdivo but not having any treatment as Oncologist says Its still the same as it was! So no treatment. Gave me months to live and now says its the same whatever that means. I was very ill on chemo hospitalised for 17 days but got over that,
Angie Kirby I'd go for a second opinion. To use Keytruda you need to have a High PDL1 Expression (as a first line treatment), but since it sounds like you already tried Chemo, you should be eligible for Opdivo or Tecentriq (both Immunotherpay drugs) which do NOT require a high PDL1 and both can be tried after Chemo.-- Not sure why your Onc is not offering any treatment? That confuses me? You can also look into clinical trials. If you still want to fight, it should be your choice. Best wishes..
I have had 3 infusion of Keytruda. Wonderful stuff. I have stage 4 nsclc. I got 20 rounds of megavolt photon radiation therapy now getting Keytruda every 3 weeks. I get tired easy and cough up tumor a lot, other than that I'm good to go. Good luck and God bless.
My mom has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung adenocarcinoma. Her body is too weak for chemo so they started keytruda last week. Every sense she is feeling weaker, having sweats, nausea, and vomiting. Is this normal?
My dad is on it

Hubby had it 3x's... PET scan... Cancer spread, now in Hospice care.
Do you need to have a genetic test for this treatment?
Yes they have to check your bio markers
Thank you Jeff. My dad tested negative and the RN wanted him to try keytruda even if he didn't have it wonder if anyone else dealt with this?
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue but I would put it on this site and see what you hear
will do, thank you
My mum tested no but they have put her on it anyway. She's had 2 treatments so far x
My mom has been on Keytruda for just at a year now and is considered in remission!
What type of LC does this work for? I'm afraid I don't know much about the meds

I'm just glad there are so many ways to combat this horrible disease these days.

Thank you for info. Ladies
we were told that the PDL 1 had to be high for any of the drugs [ opdivo and keytruda]... Had 3 different opinions and all said the same
