Pennie Gay Kramer, while I agree with your opinion that Karo isn't an optimal choice, maybe explain in greater detail to heaven about why it's not an ideal choice. Simply concluding that something is poison isn't the least bit helpful unless you provide some explanation. We're supposed to be helping each other here. Spread some knowledge, don't just spew out your opinions without backing them up! That's what makes us sound like elitist know-it-alls!
Penny, I am sorry that I made you feel lectured. It was not my intent to make you feel that way, and it wasn't my intent to lecture. I intended to offer my feedback in case it would be helpful to see the situation from a different perspective, as you may not have even been aware that you might've contributed to heaven's defensive response. I could see how heaven may have felt defensive about you telling her a product she uses is poison without any additional explanation given on your part. I'm attempting to view both perspectives objectively. I definitely do not excuse her for responding in the manner that she did, but I feel that it is possible that both responses could have been improved.
Use miralax. Karo can cause food poisoning in little ones if not cooked. I give my son 1 tsp of miralax (he's 16 pounds) whenever he needs it. It just pulls water into the colon to soften things up. It's not a laxative.
Is Miralax a short-term solution or can it be long-term. Taking my 3 year old to a pediatric gastroenterologist this afternoon after a few year of this issue, and nothing we have tried or been suggested working.
You can use it for a long time. My son has been on it for 6 months. They can't get addicted or need it eventually they slowly take them off of it. He was on 1 1/2 tsp. Twice a day Sometimes we give him 3/4 or 1/2 tsp once a day now. Slowly taking some away to get him off. You can stop all together. Or use it just sometimes.
It's only a short term fix.... I'll post the labels for JuicePlus+ & just ask ur GI about it:) I literally had this same situation occurring with one of my clients & her twin babes. JP+ took care of it & it's leading to other positive healthy changes too. PM me if u want to about anything. I'll leave my link too & the label pics.
Well nothin else worked for my son. I tried everything (expect Karo) so I was just happy to have him pooping again. He would go a week or two. Be bloated and cry all day. So if you were as desperate as I was then it would be ok. Just ask your GI doc how much to give before giving it.
We have added probiotics, calm (a sprinkle) in their juice, homeopathics drops for constipation kids. We were told to use miralax but I fixed it without it and without the gallon of glucose they gave us. I adjusted the diet... Also omega, coconut oil, Castor oil rub on abdomen with wool cloth on top of it.
I would be away of any industrialized anything. Cook real food, not GMO, like vegetables soup blended or not, vegetables cooked in very small pieces, water, fruits, and exercise his legs and belly.
I would personally not start juice especially with a child so young. Probiotics are definitely what I consider to be a crucial part of supplementation unless you are incorporating a variety of fermented foods into your & babes diet. Omegas are also an essential:)
great Candace Sanderson.... Just show the GI the JP+ labels I sent you & see if they think it could help. I've got lots of personal testimonies to this if you are interested in seeing some please feel free to PM me; )
Maybe I should add*** baby is pooping everyday but is screaming from pain and is very difficult to get out and extremely dry (sorry TMI) I have to help her every time she tries to poo
There are literally a lot of things to use before even glancing at miralax. Diet adjustment, eating more fruit, all within the child's diet offcourse. My son was in the ER and they gave us miralax which I threw away... Is about healing the gut and colon that will leave you a long lasting healing effect! Poop every day and a much happier child! I also did olive oil, and tons of other ideas. You can make a list...
Not sure what the protocol would be for an 11 month old, breastfed baby, but if it's OK to give juice why not something simpler? I'm I'm Florida and it gets nasty, muggy hot. Extra water is a must.
It is what I said above: I would be away of any industrialized anything. Cook real food, not GMO, like vegetables soup blended or not, vegetables cooked in very small pieces, water, fruits, and exercise his legs and belly.
What do you think the problem is when you are only giving healthy foods? I started feeding my baby solids at 6 months doing BLW (only fruits, veggies, and a few bites of chicken and eggs) and he didn't poop for 8 days my pediatrician is great, she is a naturopath but she still didn't have much info for me except that this can happen to some babies when they start solids. I have him back to exclusively breastfeeding, trying to get his poop regular again but am confused as to if I did something wrong or if he just wasn't ready or what
Not true, there are always exceptions!! My exclusively breastfed infant(at the time) had chronic constipation. Edit to add, yes I did elimination diets while BFing.
Digestive enzymes, Standard process makes an enzyme that is safe called Multizyme. I used to use it for my daughter when she was only a couple weeks old. She had trouble digesting carbs and there is a good chance your baby has the same trouble. Do some research on other digestive enzymes, there are some that help with breaking down fat (lipase) vegetable cellulose, protein etc.
I recently used this for my son (12 mths). I used it just twice a day since I wasn't sure how it would work, and it definitely got things moving.
Thanks!
Karo does the same thing and far cheaper
Its poison for babies
Tf it is.... Go on with that shit, some of y'all are so extreme
Such nice language heaven .. Ur very rude

Karo causes natural and is not near as harsh as miralax..... But y'all on a natzi mission and I could GAF less today
Nothing else helped my son. I didn't try Karo because it's gmo and is meant for cooking like raw eggs.
Karo is a syrup and no where near the same as raw eggs.
But miralax rips the intestines... You need to add probiotics.
This is how my GI doc explained it. After I did research Karo gives food poisoning to babies 8/10 times.
Try prunes, puréed pears or fresh apple juice. So many natural things can be used to get things moving over shop bought stuff.
Tried all of that already
I haven't used this but, I use JuicePlus+ which, works great for this but, many other benefits as well.
My kids have that issue and I use the naked juices anyone works but within hours they are relieved
Even, a 1/2 tsp. Of pink sea salt in water would probably do it for a quick fix but, as a nutritionist, I would definitely look at the diet; )

My cousin is a nurse and she said Miralax is safe everyday. ONLY do one serving per day.

My pediatrician said to use prune juice or grape. She said Apple can be constipating.

Do not use Miralax!! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2015/01/21/miralax-laxatives.aspx
Plain old apple juice not diluted will work.
I would personally not start juice especially with a child so young. Probiotics are definitely what I consider to be a crucial part of supplementation unless you are incorporating a variety of fermented foods into your & babes diet. Omegas are also an essential:)
Ty
I've had her on probiotics for quite some time
great Candace Sanderson.... Just show the GI the JP+ labels I sent you & see if they think it could help. I've got lots of personal testimonies to this if you are interested in seeing some please feel free to PM me; )
Lemon juice. Works for our son within 15min to an hour.
Maybe I should add*** baby is pooping everyday but is screaming from pain and is very difficult to get out and extremely dry (sorry TMI) I have to help her every time she tries to poo
I say constipated because it isn't an "easy go"
Have you tried juice? If he isn't already drinking any, giving him some should soften it up quick
flax seed oil.. Per dr sears.. Works great . .
http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/health-concerns/childhood-illnesses/constipation-2
Magnesium helps me, not sure the minimum age for a child though.
Add healthy fats to her diet. Scrambled egg in bacon grease works every time.
That's not healthy fats
It is short term. It's a natural solution to a horrific issue. Once settled then use more moderate measures to aid with the bowel issues.
I've used aloe vera and olive oil in a tsp arms it has worked nicely.
I tried this, didn't work. Used organic prune juice and organic pear juice and those both helped

What about water?
I have used; Coconut water; aloe Vera water; apple cider vinegar. In small amounts also!
What about plain water?
try the obvious.... Plain water as becky said. Your body needs it.

Olive oil.
I use an amazing tea the works great and is 5 herbs
Treat the cause, probably in your baby's diet is something wrong. Not criticizing, healthy eating plantbased whole food never gives constipation.
It is what I said above: I would be away of any industrialized anything. Cook real food, not GMO, like vegetables soup blended or not, vegetables cooked in very small pieces, water, fruits, and exercise his legs and belly.
Completely agree.

No animal products and animal byproducts!!
Not true, there are always exceptions!! My exclusively breastfed infant(at the time) had chronic constipation. Edit to add, yes I did elimination diets while BFing.
Smooth move tea, is probably to risky, is to strong.
Is totally natural.
I use it for CIC ibsc. Yes, def. Too much senna for a baby.
If your child suffers from constipation it's because he/she is intolerant to something they're eating. Usually this is milk...
No cow milk, plantbased milk !
Prunes or prune juice.
This is just prune juice and prebiotics. I would look at diet. Are you bf or ff?
My baby has suffered from severe constipation! Pm me if u wanna talk momma!
Put some organic prunes in a blender add a bit of water to get the blend going and whaaalaaa!
Does baby or you have any dairy? Could be that.
I'd also suggest looking into the Chiro

Baby oatmeal mixed w prune apple (warm)
