Does anyone with osteoporosis still drink coffee? I am finding it difficult to cut out completely, just drinking in moderation.
I have cut my self to 2 cups in the morning! 1 Decaff in the afternoon occasionally! I loved my coffee!??
I drank it everyday for maybe 8 years, stopped cold turkey when I found I had osteo, don't do it!
I have a cup now and then. I don't recall reading that it is bad for us.
It is the caffeine which is supposed to be bad for our bones I think. Found in tea, coffee and cola drinks. Very addictive and hard to give up as withdrawal symptoms are awful. Don't be too hard on yourself though I am sure moderate amounts won't hurt. I drink occasional decaf latte and 1 or 2 cups of decaf black tea a day.
coffee doesn't cause osteoporosis...it's a whole slew of things that does - so why give it up?... AND actually if you look into the literature, coffee is quite healthy
I had to give it up when I went through Menopause. It gave me heart palpations and I never went back to it. I also miss it.
Bummer. Never just s cup now and then of decaf?
No I just don't bother. I am still getting Menopause symptoms. I get them every summer so I don't need heart palpations on top of that other stuff.
Limit myself to one cup a day. Rest of the time drink peppermint tea or water.
I read somewhere that tea caffeine is ok?
The caffeine in tea is released very slowly as it is bound to the tannins. Caffeine in coffee gives a quick hit.
I never drank coffee but there is no way I'm giving up my tea. I love my tea too much but I have giving up smoking I'm off them nearly 8 weeks and feeling good
1cup a morning
Not much coffee at all, never had. Probably 1-2 cups, a couple of times a week. I don´t know if that will do any harm?
Strict one cup per day.
I have a couple of cups in the morning and then another couple in the late afternoon, but not as much as I once used to.
Every morning. Gotta have a couple simple comforting pleasures in life
I do.. One cup. My guilty pleasure too. But I am trying to cut the coffee with chicory herbal "coffee" which is not bad.
Coffee is still my kick start in am, I only drink 1 cup a day, maybe2 on weekend
I used to drink loads. Now I've cut down to 2 in the morning. I still have a cup of tea with my evening meal. I also have decaffeinated coffee if i fancy a coffee during the afternoon. I drink lots of rooibos redbush tea which i read is good for you. Is decaff coffee as bad for you as caffinated?
I switched to decaf. I have to have the taste of folgers in the morning.
I drink decaf. Caffeine gives me anxiety and makes me cranky. Used to be able to drink it with caffeine but not anymore.
Seems I've have to have caffeine at least 1 cup to stay awake.
Same here. Love coffee, too.
I guess if we take an extra calcium tablet we might offset the loss from coffee.
sorry loss of calcium
I have 2 or 3 home made capuccinos a day, with 2/3 to 3/4 decaf beans and lots of calcium fortified coconut milk mixed with a little vanilla soy milk for flavor and foam.
Do not takeore calcium. It's been linked to heart disease.
http://deathbycalcium.com/ this is a fantastic read. Based on lots and lots of research. I'm in the medical field and the best I've seen yet.
Drink Teeccino. No more coffee. Each person to decide what is best.
Osteoporosis is a focal scurvy (severe vitamin C deficiency) of the bones. One more reason to be sure you get enough C in your daily intake. If not from food, take a supplement.
Yes, i still drink coffee! I am not going to give it up either!
Yup! I limit myself to 2 cups before lunch. That's it. Works for me.
calcium is good to take... So long as it's accompanied by K2, which shuttles it to the BONE and not around the heart, where it will get desposited if calcium is taken without Vitamin K2.
Still drink coffee but I have 1 or 2 cups in the morning and that's it. Some days none at all.
The half and half do a number on my back and I can't have coffee without half and half so I will have a little cup of coffee every other day. I guess because half and half have dairy in it it irritates my back. It makes me feel like I have gas in my back. I'm gonna try the non dairy I think they have
Any kind of coffee makes u acidic and ur stripping the minerals u need. Ur worth the effort to stop.
Once a week as a treat is good. No habit involved of unrestrained consumption.
I am not a regular coffee drinker. (Basically because I don't like the idea of being addicted to anything.) My Dr told me that a cup coffee results in an additional small amount of calcium being excreted from your body.
Coffee was always my beverage of choice but I had to give it up because of acid indigestion. Its the acid thats the problem for me, not the caffeine. I have a cup or two a month now and really enjoy it on those days. Most mornings I have tea and prefer it.
