Does anyone have lung issues? I have had bronchitis for 8 weeks and also got walking pneumonia. Bronchitis is still hanging on. My dr wants me to be tested for COPD. I was wondering can RA and Fibromyalgia cause lung issues.
I believe these illness or diseases do yes
Ok thankyou I have never this sick so long
I’ve had bronchitis for over a month now. Started out with the flu, then turned into bronchitis with pleurisy. I’m on my third round on antibiotics and it’s finally getting better. I’ve never been this sick for so long. It’s been so exhausting. He had me on steroids, and breathing treatments.. Plus my antibiotics.
From what I’ve read, RA can cause us to be more prone to getting lung issues. Not really sure what can be done to prevent it..
Michelle Lowery you’re welcome. I hope you start feeling better soon. I know you have to be exhausted and tired of being sick! I am, next week will be six weeks for me.
Oh yes I am sick of being sick.
Cayanne pepper really helped me with bronchitis a few years ago
r u using essential oils.. And massive doses of vit c and alkaline diet if not LOOK INTO THEM
What are essential oils? How much vitamin C should I take
I have a yearly Pulmonary Function Test, as well as and echocardiogram, to monitor risk and watch for changes. I’m just getting through the flu. Thankfully, I weathered it better than most. I’ve had pneumonia shots (both available) so it didn’t progress beyond just needing a day of nebulizer treatments.
I have never had a Pulmonary Function Test
I’m at a large, teaching hospital for rheumatology. It made a huge difference in treatment when I made the switch.
Ya I have asthma that can’t even be controlled with 4 inhalers and a biologics
I do have lung issues from RA. Was dealing with it most of December, prednisone helped. Hated to take it though. Now have the flu and bronchitis, day 10. I was just thinking when am I going to get better. Still feel so sick. Was thinking of calling the doctor again, since I am done with the meds and do not feel better. Hope you all feel better!
RA yes, Fibro no
I am just getting over a lung infection that had me on antibiotics.
I also suffer from asthma.
If you have RA related lung issues does it become a permanent thing? Or does it come and go?
I was told it does not get better
In the past, I had several lung issues. For me it had to be caused by autoimmune inflammation, these issues have been gone for years now.
Jim Boucher that’s great news jim!
That is great jim. I was told the scarring would not go away.
I do have some scarring, but my lungs don't fill with fluid (caused gasping for breath) and the pleurisy (caused really bad pain) used to be every month or so. Now, they have been gone for years. I think the inflammation made a fertile place for bacteria to grow, I had pneumonia and TB. Every person who had developed pneumonia that I know, also had chronic lung/breathing problems and other autoimmune issues.
RA does cause lung issues. Initially they are chronic, such as bronchitis and pneumonia. I used to get both often. I started taking the pneumovac and I’ve not had any more pneumonia’s. I also take the flu shot religiously and I may get the flu but not as severe. Now this past month I’ve been really sick with the flu. I did not get the shot this year, unfortunately with rheumatoid does affect the lung, long term.
My lungs seem to have been affected (COPD) and I have been wanting to find out what in meant by RA lung, that I’ve seen mentioned on here before.
Absolutely RA can cause lung issues!!! Please look outside the rheumatology box for healing while you can. Find a functional medicine doctor near you to help.
RA causes lung issues. I have nodes in mine, developed Bronchitis 5 yrs ago, had pnuemonia last Christmas. Just finished 4 rounds of Rituxan and due to my lung issues has a breathing treatment yesterday at the hospital to help prevent pnuemonia again. I am breathing better and didnt need my inhaler at all. I was in and out of the cold too. Protect your lungs people!
RA can, yes
Yes! I cough every morning and have chronic shortness of breath
Yes, follicular obstructive bronchiolitis diagnosed with a lung biopsy.
Lung issues are the second highest cause of death from RA. I started getting laryngeal problems months ago and had to get a tracheostomy yesterday. RA can affect any kind of connective tissue and organs. Our whole body is held together by connective tissue so we can get nodules almost anywhere too including in lungs. I'm grateful I went eight years without any of these issues til now and it's something that was relatively easy to treat. A lot of people develop lung problems within the first few years of getting sick and it takes them out quickly.
melanie Smith, thanks for sharing that article. Very informative. Most doctors don’t tell us a lot of things.
Yes get a chest xray
I had one
