Help! I was brushing my daughter hair tonight after a bath and noticed this bald spot on her head ?? This popped out of nowhere?!
I had a spot like this, but I was born with it. It was Nevous sebaceous of jadasson
Same for my daughter
Technical name for balding is alopecia... Maybe try googling some info on it. I'd say it could be because of a deficiency causing her integumentary (hair, skin, nails) system to not be healthy... Or some times hair follicles just die
This could be a b12 deficiency
Please get it checked, b12 is no joke I'm still recovering after 2 years. You can go blind and lose your ability to walk
Prayers you get better!
Laura Atkins Thank You, I'm doing much better now.
That's what Intially thought but there is not redness or flaky or anything?
Hmm... I'd get it checked
Get her thyroid checked
You want them to check for thyroid antibodies not only TSH
My 4th grader developed a nervous habit of pulling his hair out at the crown because it wouldn’t lay down. Could this be the case here ?
Noni always have her hair either in pony tail or done up somehow
She takes childrens vitamins... I'm just at lost I do her hair every day for school and did not see that this morning..
Unfortunately, could be the start of Alopecia Areata.
My daughter suffered hair loss due to a parasitic infection.
Try Castor oil
It could be a nervous tick. Or she could have just gotten it stuck on something playing. Especially if you didn't notice it this morning
I two bald spots that kept getting bigger was due to stress after the lose of my father, I used rosemary essential oil couple drops in my shampoo when washing my hair, massage the area when shampooing to bring blood flow to the spot. My hair is growing back.
Apply on it or eat it?
RN Liew Varner apply
I got those round bald patches from time to time in my 20's.. Also.. The patch was soo smooth .. The hair would grow back.. But.. After a few yrs.. There will be a patch again.. Sometimes the same spot.. Sometimes a diff spot.. They could not find out why it happen.. Except maybe stress on the brain.. Was their answer..
She might secretly be plucking out her hairs. It can become a habit very easily.
This is the first thing I thought of
Lacy, been there with my kiddo.
Ah sorry to hear that! I hope your kiddo is doing better!
What i was going to say!
My daughter went thru this... Took her to the Dr and they tested her to make sure nothing serious... Tests came back good ... They said that kids hair follicles go thru a resting stage and this happens .... My daughters was alot worse than this and it finally grew back
Mine had one, I guess it was the tight pony tails I did for school. When school was out it grew back
The skin definitely looks discolored to me there.
Rosemary essential oil, castor oil and Biotin supplements are each helpful.
Avoid all caffeine, get plenty of iodine and other Thyroid support.
Add biotin to her diet
Maybe make sure she doesn’t have the mental disorder trichotillomania
Stress did it for me or r.n.worm if u have pets
That is from STRESS.
I had one but it’s because I used to rub my hair on the same spot all the time. I tried some home remedies like putting aloe Vera when I went to sleep but I got lazy and only did it a couple of times. It’s really Just a matter of letting the hair grow out and having her not touch her Head. Also avoid any ponytails when her Hair is wet .
When I was young I had that...... Stress induced psoriasis of scalp. Fast forward 25 yrs. My daughter did same thing. Get to bottom of stress and be supportive
Could be a fungal infection! Tinea capitis
May be r.n.worm.. Like healing
See a dermetolgist
Is she vaccinated? Alopecia is a common adverse reaction to vaccines.
She has alopecia. The hair comes out in certain parts of the head in clumps. Get her checked out.
You mean alopecia areata. It does look like that, but that might not be what it is.. At this point, it could be a few different things.
Bob Frazier this is why I said to get her checked. There are different types of alopecia if that is what it is. They will not know until they take some tests and blood work to find out what is the real issue at hand.
alopecia is just the term for baldness. Alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, and alopecia universalis are something completely different....
I had a friend who’s son had this as an adverse reaction to his vaccines.
Sometimes after surgery, nerves, anxiety, I’d go to dermatologist
I had alopecia from stress
This may be just traction alopecia. My daughter had this where I pulled her hair into a tight ponie tail daily. It grew back. Definitely get it checked out, but if it is where you are putting tension on her scalp, it's probably... Traction Alopecia. "It differs from other types of Alopecia in that it is usually caused directly by the actions of the individual which result in excessive tension on the hair and breakage. Certain hair styles, such as braiding and tight ponytails are common causes of Traction Alopecia. It can also be caused by repeated treatments with chemicals, such as hair colouring and bleaching."
I had this when I was young a few spots around my head during high school sophomore year. Went to the dermatologist they don’t test for it or have a cure ... They gave me a sample of steroids, used them and the hair came back a little but, it was from stress, I had always been very nervous and anxious person when it came to school especially during tests but I remember not being able to eat and feeling sick to my stomach first hours of school. My hair has all grown back now that I have controlled my nerves by exercising and eating vegan diet manly most of the time. I hope your daughters hair grows back... I found an organic shampoo I haven’t tried but it’s supposed to help balding spots so hair can re grow. Alopecia has different levels and freaking out is bad, being stressed can cause it... İt can re grow or it may not and it can be seasonal falling out of the hair. Look at http://organigrowhairco.com/
Is she in medication? Some drugs can cause that and make sure she is not stressed. Know the root cause and deal with it. Then use aloe Vera gel to grow The hair
Use a lotion: Ketoconazole(drug name)
I had it when I was younger due to stress
She didn’t happen to get a comb or something stuck in her hair? My daughter did this when she was like 3 and then ripped the comb out before I could get to her. It did eventually grow back!! Thankfully!!
My daughter had the same problem. Doctor told me its due to fungal infection. Its caused by sweat n dirt. Best is to use anti fungal cream. After 2 weeks i could see hair growth again
I had this when I was a young teen from my thyroid going out. Had a few patches over a few months
Castor oil every day
Old case of r.n. worm that wasn’t caught?
I had it as a kid and later in life developed a fat gland their. My daughter was born with a bald spot like this. It is still their and she is 26. Waiting to see what develops. My whole family had it. Seems to be heriditory. No complications
Just use goat milk instead of any oil for your hair
mixed with a little coconut oil. Makes a perfect remedy..
You can use either way
Wash your hair with pine tart soap. Yes it’s stinks and will make your hair like it’s needs more r.n.ing. Then after towel drying use that soap to rub in the bold spot. Hair will grow back. Took about a month my nieces hair to grow out. It’s caused by stress
You can find that soap at natural stores
My daughter had a spot like that when she was little and it was r.n.worm.
Go see a doctor. It's crazy all these people on here "diagnosing" stuff from pictures and they have no medical degree.
I had similar thing, I was diagnosed with Alopecia Arieta
My daughter has this. There’s very tiny hairs in there. Not sure what it could be but we also do lots of different hair styles with tons of ponytails.
Another picture. It’s not very big.
Dr for sure
Parasites can do this...
OCD can do this too. Does she have hair with folicles in her bedding or on her clothes at all? Don't ask her, if she is even aware of it, she might deny it, because OCD people sometimes think they "need" this like sucking a thumb. Doctors easily forget about OCD issues when looking at this kind of thing. So just think about this possibility.
